Star Wars begins its own March Madness tourney today

Vader Madness

Would it really end in anything but Yoda vs. the Emperor?

It’s that time of year again, March Madness, a time for brackets and office pools. This year StarWars.com will be holding its own tournament to allow online voters to choose the winners of a battle between good and evil–Star Wars This is Madness: The Star Wars Character Tournament.  The left bracket is the “Light Side”–the good guys, and the right side is the bad guys from the “Dark Side” of the Force.

Vader vs. Grievous

Every day beginning today StarWars.com will feature two face-offs.  Day one has Han Solo vs. Lando Calrissian and Darth Vader vs. General Grievous.  We at borg.com will throw our support behind cyborgs Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and General Grievous.  Will Salacious Crumb upset Jabba the Hutt with a Princess Leia chain-around-the-neck routine?  Will one of the Clone Wars Expanded Universe characters–Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex, Asajj Ventress, Cad Bane, or Hondo Ohnaka–come from behind for an upset?  Or will we just see Han Solo square off one more time against Darth Vader in the final bout?

Star Wars Tourney 2013 Bracket

Some of the brackets just seem… wrong.  Princess Leia vs. her mom, Padme?  Wicket the Ewok vs. Chewbacca?

Here is an introduction to the Star Wars This is Madness: The Star Wars Character Tournament by Darth Vader, as well as Vader’s personal appeal to join him:

Definitely something kids can participate in.  The championship vote will be held April 9, 2013.  Go to StarWars.com to vote now.

May the Force be with you.
