First look–Wahlberg in awesome first trailer for new Transformers flick

Transformers 4 Age of Extinction poster Mark Wahlberg

“I think we just found a Transformer.”

Michael Bay may have done something right here.  Mark Wahlberg is a great choice for a lead in a big-screen Transformers film.  For this fourth (fourth? really?) movie in the series, this first full trailer is a convincing reason to get us to the theaters despite the lackluster second and third installments.  It’s a great trailer, and the effects we see are exactly right for these machines-turned-mega-robots.

Plus Dinobots.  Win.

Transformers: Age of Extinction has a June 27, 2014 release date.

  1. Does anyone know who or what the Autobots are fighting in this movie, aside from the MIBs? The antagonists look like Head Masters, but they may even be Keepers. I suppose it could be a new form of Decepticon, but I am not sure that the writers would use them, since they seemed to write them off in Dark of the Moon. Anything is possible, but I have been under the impression that this film would not have the Autobots facing off against the Decepticons.

By the way, Optimus has a cool sword. Is it the Star Saber? And what the heck is Mark Wahlberg holding in the promo poster? It looks like a very short sword, but the sun in the background makes it hard for me to be sure just what it is.
