Captain Kirk, James Bond, and Mr. T–Playmobil goes big with high-end playsets

When I was a kid the only place you could find Playmobil toys was as giveaways in McDonald’s Happy Meals. But that was then. A year ago Playmobil was promoting a high-end line of Ghostbusters tie-in toys along with a new DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future (check them out here). With its latest releases of movie and TV tie-ins, Playmobil is upping its game. That includes a giant Star Trek starship Enterprise playset chock full of figures (including the original series’ nicely detailed Mid-Century Modern Burke bridge chairs!). It also includes James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5–the one from Goldfinger and brought back for No Time to Die. And their van and figures from The A-Team is being promoted with a slick commercial that is not to be missed. First up is the ginormous Starship Enterprise playset. The German toy company is said to have a development team of 50 designers, and with an already impressive line of buildings and vehicles, this is sure to be a high point for the ages. It has lights and sound, includes figures Kirk, Spock, Uhura, McCoy, Sulu, Scotty, and Chekov, and it has a removable top and access panels for play. Plus a load of app tie-in features. Next up is the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 as seen in Goldfinger and brought back for No Time to Die. This is a pretty car–pretty deadly–with retractable tire cutters on each wheel, a passenger ejection seat, plus four figures, including Bond, Goldfinger, and Oddjob. And that leaves the newest toy in the tie-in line, The A-Team van. It features Dwight Schultz’s Murdock, Mr. T’s B.A. Baracus, Dirk Benedict’s Face, and George Peppard’s Hannibal. This one is available only as a pre-order now here at Entertainment Earth. It includes opening doors, opening tailgates, an internal monitor, a wall to mount accessories, and dynamite, binoculars, and other cool accessories.
