An adaptation of the novel of the same name, A Gentleman in Moscow is a series coming to Showtime. It appears too quirky to have been made into a theatrical release, too on-the-nose as some kind of spin on Wes Anderson. The style seems very much a cousin to David O. Russell’s Amsterdam, but although this is set in a historical place and time, unlike Amsterdam it’s entirely fiction–it’s a play on European hotels with live-in residents. The appeal for genre fans is seeing more of Star Wars actors Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The negative is it’s only streaming for Paramount+ customers who also have Showtime, which seems like a pretty small crowd to gamble your money on for a studio.
Take a look at the trailer for this very Wes Anderson-meets-David O. Russell-styled series, A Gentleman in Moscow:
A Gentleman in Moscow comes to Paramount+ Showtime customers beginning with the first of eight episodes March 29, 2024, with new episodes every Friday.
