Companion–Star Wars and Star Trek actors lead new android thriller

What comes to mind when you see the trailer for the new Warner movie Companion?  For us it’s those sci-fi cautionary robot and android tales like M3GAN, Ex Machina, or The Stepford Wives, the automatons of Five Nights at Freddy’s, the heroines of Alita: Battle Angel, or Android Blues, or The Six Million Dollar Man’s Fembots.  The “Mod” cyborg actress from Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett—Sophie Thatcher–as Iris, the star robot of this new sci-fi thriller, has some sympathetic vibes, like the borgs of the British Humans series or the Synths of the Alien tie-ins.  Add to Thatcher Star Trek: Lower Decks star Jack Quaid as her boyfriend/owner Josh, and count yourself ready for the next sci-fi borg fix.  Will Thatcher get a second nod in the borg Hall of Fame?  Is she a robot or something more?  Is she the only bot in the movie?  We’ll all need to watch to find out.

Take a look at the trailer for the new sci-fi/horror/thriller/crime/heist genre bender Companion:

Other cast members include Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Megan Suri (Bones), Rupert Friend (Asteroid City), and Harvey Guillén (What We Do In the Shadows).

Companion comes to theaters January 31, 2025.
