The 40th anniversary of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is well underway, and the latest comic celebrating the milestone is a return to one of our favorite matches made in heaven (OK, the only thing better might be a team-up of Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo and Jaxxon from Star Wars). In the fun look back to Saturday morning cartoons with its Saturday Morning Adventures titles, IDW Publishing put together a new one-shot tale featuring your favorite turtles under the tutelage of one Myamoto Usagi, aka Usagi Yojimbo. Splinter and the Turtles use a spiffy tech portal to send the Turtles along with Usagi back to his original dimension. But many surprises await Usagi, as some things changed back home when he disappeared. Fans of the animated series will be happy to see a visit from the bat-like aliens from the planet Flagenon, who the TMNT encountered back in the 1980s.
Does a Usagi/TMNT team-up sound familiar? We covered their earlier meet-up/crossover here and here at borg back in 2017. The new story was written by Erik Burnham with artwork by Jack Lawrence. Check out a preview below for the Saturday Morning Adventures Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Usagi Yojimbo one-shot, as well as the variant cover options, including one from Stan himself!
Check out all the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles titles this summer at Elite Comics or your local comic shop. Look for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Usagi Yojimbo one-shot and more coming this year from IDW Publishing.
