Star Wars: Skeleton Crew looks like fun. Grogu aka Baby Yoda proved Star Wars is at its best with great new aliens. The trailer looks fun because we haven’t seen a real live-action Star Wars show for kids since well before the Disney era. And this series appears a little bit Stand by Me, a little bit The Goonies, and a whole lot Explorers. Best of all it has Jon Favreau’s name on it, and he’s batting a thousand in the Star Wars galaxy. Plus the little nephew (?) to Max Rebo looks better than the average Star Wars character creation. Is there some Muppets influence? We can only hope.
The design looks to have some Midcentury Modern influences, and is closer to the look and feel of the two Star Wars Story movies: Solo and Rogue One.

Is that a new borg? Is Jude Law, leading a cast of kids, some kind of disenfranchised Jedi? We’ll find out soon enough. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew begins on Disney+ December 3, 2024, with a two-episode premiere. It’s going to need to quench our thirst for Star Wars until The Mandalorian and Grogu–the new movie–arrives, probably in 2026.
