At last! The 2023 return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to spy-fi, FUBAR was a fun twist on both True Lies and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, with Arnold as Luke Brunner, a retiring CIA operative who learns his daughter, played by Monica Barbaro (I’m Charlie Walker, Stumptown) is also a CIA operative. Really the only thing missing to make it a sequel to True Lies was Jamie Lee Curtis, with even Tom Arnold on board. Both Arnolds are back for season 2, arriving on Netflix in only three weeks. Then there is his daughter’s boyfriend, not up to Luke’s standards, played by Jay Baruchel (RoboCop, Fanboys). Plus Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project) adds more laugh-out-loud antics, along with Friday the 13th’s Travis Van Winkle, Summer School’s Fabiana Udenio, Boo, Bitch’s Aparna Brielle, and Dolemite is My Name’s Milan Carter. But the addition of Counterpart’s Guy Burnet and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Star Wars: Acolyte) looks like it’s going to lean more into the RED/RED 2 and True Lies framework–even more than its first season.
Stream the first season now on Netflix for Memorial Day (hey–the title is taken from a term coined in World War II). Take a look at this preview for the second season of FUBAR:
Look for FUBAR Season 2 coming for Father’s Day 2025, streaming on Netflix June 12, 2025.
