Street Fighter — Another video game heads to the movies

Next up for fans of movies based on video games is Street Fighter, coming to theaters this fall.  The latest of several live-action and animated shows in the Capcom franchise, this live-action version is set in 1993, and follows characters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), who are thrown back into combat when the Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a “brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.”  Directed by Kitao Sakurai and produced by Jason Momoa, the previews so far have made the movie look like it was actually made in the 1990s, including the music that begs for a Jean-Claude Van Damme cameo.  Theaters should run a double feature of this movie and this year’s Masters of the Universe remake.

The cast includes Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Joe Anoai as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, 50 Cent as Balrog, and Jason Momoa as Blanka.

Here’s the trailer for the new Street Fighter:

Street Fighter comes to theaters October 16, 2026.
