For the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons we’ve seen Quests from the Infinite Staircase (reviewed here), plus a historical look back in Making the Original D&D (discussed here). As we’re readying to preview the shiny new Player’s Handbook, we received this great desk set item: a Mimic Treasure Chest filled with notebooks! That’s right, it’s a colorful, monstrously good re-creation of a Mimic, complete with teeth, and even a tongue guarding a place for dice inside. It’s available for pre-order now here at Amazon.
So what’s inside?
You get the Mimic Treasure box–made of sturdy cardboard, it’s also great for holding notecards. Inside are five notebooks: three featuring lined note paper: the Owlbear, the Black Dragon, and a Lich on the covers, one book featuring the Beholder with graph paper, and one book featuring the Displacer Beast with dot grid paper. And it contains a closable box for storing pencils or dice (not included). It also has a reusable sticker seal for sealing the box from interlopers. (Dice, bag, Player’s Handbook, and pens shown for reference, not included).
I really like the color combination selected for the books.
The box is illustrated and designed by Eric Belisle, the artist who illustrated the mimic featured in the fifth edition D&D Monster Manual.
Penguin Random House/Crown Publishing Group/Clarkson Potter has assembled a fun add-on to your gaming fun. Again, it’s available for pre-order now here at Amazon. It’s slated for release tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
