Everyone knows that Fourth of July Weekend 2025 is about only one thing: It’s the 50th anniversary of the movie Jaws–fifty years since we were first afraid to go back in the water. And that a man-eating shark may not be the biggest villain.

Fifty years ago (June 20, 1975 to be exact), summer movies catapulted into an entirely new age. Fueled by the bestselling novel it was based on, Steven Spielberg’s Jaws scared an entire generation like never before. And the Fourth of July took on a new cultural ritual: watching Jaws on the Fourth of July, when the story is set–some have even held Jaws on the Water viewings floating in the water at beach parties).
Summer movies became a spectacle, a marketing extravaganza, and a pervasive part of culture in America and beyond. In fact if you haven’t seen Jaws in the theater, you may find you haven’t seen it at all. We screened the original print in the theater a decade ago (see our review here at borg). But you’ll be have another chance to see it in theaters later this year (check that out below). And National Geographic, Hulu, and Disney+ will be streaming a new documentary.
How else can fans look back on the movie 50 years later this summer?
If you know what it means to “pull out all the stops,” then you’ll understand why this first item is dead on. Here’s a look at the new Jaws pinball arcade game:
Everyone and every product is getting in on the 50th anniversary, like Funko Pops and Hot Wheels cars like Brody’s truck–but even better, Hot Wheels has a new 50th anniversary Quint’s boat with shark (expected to be available here at Amazon in July):

Entertainmeant Earth offers dozens of toys, games, and collectables at its website. NECA has reintroduced a version of the classic shark game from the 1970s:

Narragansett, the beer can Quint crushes in the film, has been issuing 1975 retro beer can options and other memorabilia for years. Check out their current catalog here. Many items aren’t 50th anniversary exclusives but still help fans celebrate, like a Deluxe Jaws LEGOs set, Little Golden Book, desk art, a classic lunchbox, and unbranded but similar products like with Playmobil. And don’t forget this gruesome convention exclusive Funko Pop.
The movie itself can be found everywhere and anywhere in a given year, currently streaming on Peacock. The latest home edition includes a 4K release (available now here at Amazon). And a few posters are advertising the 4K release for the belated anniversary in theaters this August.

You can get tickets now for the August 29 single day showing of Jaws for the 50th, including concession collectables at the AMC website.

Or get tickets for the August 28 to September 2 50th anniversary IMAX screenings now at the IMAX website.
New this year, 4DX theaters will be premiering Jaws in their full-effect theaters, also August 29.

The new documentary, Jaws at 50: The Definitive Inside Story begins on National Geographic, Hulu, and Disney+ July 10, 2025. Here’s a preview:
Take a look back at the original trailer, a blast from the past, and a study in how to make a great movie trailer:
We at borg will never stop talking about this genre-bending classic–it’s included in the American Film Institute’s best movies, and TCM’s reviews of the best Summer Movies and best Horror Movies, as well as its 52 Must-See Essentials. Revisit some of our reviews:
- Jaws, the original novel by Peter Benchley
- The Jaws Log, by Carl Gottlieb

And more.
“Watch it, before you go back into the water.”
Have a safe Fourth of July weekend.
