Shelter — Bill Nighy launches lighthouse siege against Jason Statham

Bill Nighy.  Luke Evans.  Things are looking up for Jason Statham in Shelter, the next action movie featuring the actor who may very well be the next John Wayne for this generation.  Where does the actor begin and the invincible badass take over?  We may never know, and who cares?  He has star power.  And with heavy hitter actors like Nighy and Evans as supporting actors not even making the marquee, that says something for Statham’s success in Hollywood.

It’s always a good time for another Statham movie.  Reaching back to Statham’s cool and cocky bravado under director John Carpenter in Ghosts of Mars, he next led the first of his three Transporter movies beginning in 2002, then he co-starred in two of the best heist movies of all time with 2003’s The Italian Job, followed by 2008’s The Bank Job.  He’s co-starred in The Fast and the Furious, The Expendables, and The Meg franchises, played Donald E. Westlake’s well-known crime lead in Parker, and starred in a dozen other single-word action flicks, including Collateral, Cellular, Revolver, Snatch, Crank, Safe, and Redemption, with A Working Man, The Beekeeper and Fast X his latest hits. Next he must defend his secret life by defending a lighthouse refuge, Navarone style.  Things aren’t looking up for his character.  Or are they?

Who’s in?  Here’s the first trailer for Shelter:

Co-starring Daniel Mays and Harriet Walter and directed by Ric Roman Waugh, Shelter comes to theaters January 30, 2026.
