Trailer Park–Four previews for animated coming attractions

Free Birds preview

Four new previews for animated movies coming out in the next 8 months are out this week.  Each has genre actors that might get you to go to the theater for your animated viewing fix.

First up is Free Birds, which is about a Thanksgiving turkey pardoned by the president (who appears to be President Clinton) who partners with another bird to use the White House time machine to go back and prevent the first turkey from being the subject of Thanksgiving–thereby saving all turkeys from a Thanksgiving fate from then on.  The story looks good and the cast and animation do, too.

Check out the trailer for Free Birds:

Free Birds features the voices of Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Keith David (They Live), and Star Trek’s George Takei and Colm Meaney.

Free Birds hits theaters November 1, 2013.

Next up is The Legos Movie.  Surprisingly a movie mash-up of several genre characters who have made their way into Legos toys made it to the theater before something like The Legos Star Wars.  So look for Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in the movie–And who knows?  Maybe this is the close we’ll ever get to a Justice League movie at the rate DC Comics is moving.

Here is the first trailer for The Legos Movie:

The Legos Movie features the voices of Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks (Spider-Man series), Alison Brie (Community), Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, and Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation).

The Lego Movie won’t be released in theaters until February 7, 2014.

Wondering what Kristen Bell was doing in addition to her Showtime TV series House of Lies and readying for the new Veronica Mars movie?  She teamed up with Firefly’s Alan Tudyk on the new movie Frozen.  The first preview is basically an animated short so we don’t know what the movie will entirely be about, but the moose is very cute.  Maybe something like Ice Age?

Here is the trailer for Frozen:

Frozen is scheduled for release in theaters November 27, 2013.

Finally, kids and grown-ups who grew up with the original Smurfs TV series may want to check out the sequel to the first big budget Smurfs movie, Smurfs 2.  Smurfs 2 features live action and voice work from Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Hank Azaria (The Birdcage), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter series), Christina Ricci (Beetlejuice), Katy Perry (The Smurfs), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek 2009), Alan Cumming (Goldeneye), Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live), and Mario Lopez (Pet Star).

Smurfs 2 hits theaters July 31, 2013.
