Sesame Street to feature educational COVID-19 episode for parents and kids Saturday

COVID Sesame Street

Your favorite characters from Sesame Street will be featured in a special town hall episode this weekend to help kids and parents discuss questions and concerns about the novel coronavirus COVID-19.  This pandemic can be scary for kids, so The ABCs of Covid 19: A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Parents will tackle issues including education, anxiety, screen time, and playdates.

Featuring Sesame Street characters, including Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Rosita, and Grover, the 90-minute town hall format show will air on CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español, and it will stream live on CNN.com’s homepage and across mobile devices via CNN’s apps, without requiring a cable log-in, so anyone with an Internet connection can access it for free.

What are your children asking you about coronavirus?  Do you have questions about parenting during the pandemic?

Big Bird will join CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and CNN anchor and national correspondent Erica Hill to moderate the event.  Dr. Gupta has been one of the most widely recognized experts on medical science and a major contributor educating the public on COVID-19 over the past 100 days.

The live event happens Saturday at 8 a.m. Central Time.  The town hall will also air on CNNgo, and subscribers to cable/satellite systems can watch it on-demand.

Kids and parents can send in their questions at the CNN website here.  Although this kind of public service show is what Sesame Street is known for, parents can obviously record the show and pre-screen it for their personal circumstances.

The airing Saturday morning will follow the re-broadcast of Elmo’s Playdate, featuring Lin Manuel Miranda, Anne Hathaway, and Tracee Ellis Ross, along with Sesame Street friends Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Grover as they adjust to the realities of social distancing while saluting the medical personnel working on the crisis in the hospitals.
