Never heard of Brazil Comic Con before? Also called the Comic Con Experience or CCXP, it’s a pop culture convention that’s been around only since 2014. On the scale of San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con, high attendance and participation brings in major international studios, celebrities, and creators. Held in São Paulo, Brazil, this weekend for the first time since the pandemic, this week it means a pile of new movie trailers. Disney is there showing off its biggest Marvel and Lucasfilm properties coming in 2023. From Marvel, that’s a video retrospective on Ant-Man in contemplation of the beginning of MCU’s “Phase V,” Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the first trailer for what director James Gunn referred to as the finale for the Guardians of the Galaxy “trilogy,” Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3.
Dial H for Hero? Even bigger news is the first full trailer for the fifth Indiana Jones installment starring Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, complete with de-aging CGI and an appearance by Sallah actor John Rhys-Davies.
Along with these trailers we have new trailers for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Check them all out below.
When the ability to use computer technology to change faces and characters in movies arrived back in the early 1990s, one of the first ideas was a version of Raiders of the Lost Ark starring John Wayne. The tech still isn’t perfect, but probably good enough for most Indiana Jones fans. And fans have gone through the “final Indy film” so many times now it seems John Williams can play his Indy march louder for each new action sequence. Check out the first glimpses of Ford, CGI, music, and characters old and new in this trailer for the fifth (and final?) Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny:
More of the same? As long as they don’t mess with Rocket and Groot (again) or Cosmo the Space Dog, which would be lame and lazy writing and just plain stupid for fans, count us in for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3:
This isn’t a preview, but a reel presented by Paul Rudd & Co. in Brazil yesterday promoting Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania:
In case you missed it, here’s the trailer for the movie we previewed at borg earlier this year:
Representing the currently 13th highest gross movie franchise, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is the seventh live-action movie in the series:
Nice use of the theme song and game sounds for The Super Mario Bros. Movie:
All planned for theatrical releases, look for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania coming February 17, 2023, The Super Mario Bros. Movie April 7, 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, May 5, 2023, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts June 9, 2023, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny June 30, 2023.
