It took four decades, but Magnum, p.i. is getting its own Playmobil playset.  It’s based on the original series, not the current show.  As one of the most successful TV reboots ever winds down this year, the original Magnum, Higgins, T.C., and Rick have been shrunk into recognizable Playmobil people.

You can almost hear Higgins shouting, “Oh, my GOD!” as Thomas speeds this new reproduction of Robin Masters’ red Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole off the estate grounds.  Cool auto features, four figures, and accessories make this a must-have for fans of recent lines that have brought collectors Star Trek’s Enterprise starship and Klingon Bird of Prey, the Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine, Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T., the A-Team van, James Bond’s Aston Martin, Scooby-Doo’s Mystery Machine, and the Ghostbusters ECTO-1.  You can order the Magnum, p.i. The Ferrari will bring you back to Hawaii, speeding around the island taking photographs and solving missing persons cases.  The toy features hinged headlights in the front and an opening hood in the rear, with a removable roof.

Along with the car are the four figures, including moustached Higgins in jungle fatigues with binoculars, suspenders-adorned T.C. with his hat and camera, Rick with his opening credits Western wear and walkie talkie, and Thomas with one of his signature shirts, his dad’s wristwatch, and his Detroit Tigers ballcap, plus Merlin the KGB-trained macaw and perch (or maybe it’s just a parrot), and a palm tree. But where are The Lads?

Will this be all we see from the TV series?  This “trailer” for the playset sneaks in T.C.’s helicopter in the background.  Playmobil has offered many copters in the past–this would seem like a no-brainer (although you’ll probably have to make your own toothpick Bridge on the River Kwai).
