Beetlejuice 2–The Ghost with the Most returns in first trailer

Advertisements

Back in December here at borg we announced that director Tim Burton was bringing Michael Keaton back for a sequel to the 1988 supernatural hit comedy Beetlejuice.  Then in February, Warner Bros. teased audiences with a poster and a full title, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.  Now this weekend we have a teaser and first look at Michael Keaton as… Old Ghost Beetlejuice?  Do ghosts age?  Keaton’s Ghost with the Most does, as does Catherine O’Hara, who as a human character, makes sense (although she still looks great).  But Winona Ryder looks unchanged as her daughter Lydia.  Still Goth after all these years?

Audiences get their first look at Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) as Lydia’s daughter Astrid as well as Burn Gorman (The Offer) as a priest.  No glimpse yet at Willem Dafoe (Spider-verse), Justin Theroux (White House Plumbers), or Monica Bellucci (Spectre) as Beetlejuice’s wife.

Is there any doubt with that title and the original’s prohibited catchphrase that a second sequel is already in the works?  Check out this first trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice:

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is slated to arrive in theaters September 6, 2024.
