Although its official release is August 7, attendees at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 this week can get their hands on the first copy of The Pedestrian, a crazy-cool new comic book series from indie publisher Magma Comix. What is up with this power-walking, good guy in a supersuit? The City of Summer is a town where everyone leaves and nobody comes back, so why does it now have a barely noticeable defender and protector, and apparently a darker force opposing him and everyone else?

The first issue has several variant copies, but writer Joey Esposito and artist Sean Von Gorman will be signing a special cover edition Von Gorman created just for the show this week. You probably recognize Von Gorman from his work on Toe Tag Riot and several Star Trek comic book projects. The Pedestrian is fun, it’s cool, and the hero is like no one you’ve seen before. Take a look inside the first issue below.
It’s a great beginning, introducing this quiet superhero interwoven into the fabric of the town. The local police are only kinda-sorta taking notice. But nobody notices what lies in the shadows–but that’s something for the coming issues.

This is the sketch cover you can get signed at the show–or maybe Sean Von Gorman will sketch something in that trademark PED XING space?

Maybe Esposito will draw you something? (It’s always fun trying to get a writer to sketch something). Here is the behind-the-scenes dynamic duo’s schedule for the show:

And here is a peek ahead at some coming covers:

You won’t forget the sound of this superhero’s squishing shoes as he walks by to help someone else. Run, don’t walk, to Elite Comics or your local comic shop and add The Pedestrian to your pull list now.
