Ghost Cat Anzu–The irreverent Japanese cat is coming to U.S. theaters

While a movie about the great American icon Garfield the cat makes its way to Netflix, a cat from Japan is making a name for himself.  In what looks like a mash-up of Garfield and Seth MacFarlane’s irreverent talking teddy bear Ted, Anzu the talking cat is rising to fame internationally.  His debut big screen appearance in the animated movie Ghost Cat Anzu will be seen by audiences in the U.S.  Based on the manga by Takashi Imashiro, the movie, which opened in Japan this summer, stars Mirai Moriyama as Anzu the cat and Noa Gotō as a tween girl named Karin.  It will be distributed by GKIDS and arrive in U.S. theaters in time for Thanksgiving.  The movie was shot first in live action, then rotoscoped in 2D into anime.
