First look–This is Spinal Tap action figures

It was only last year we previewed a new line of action figures from Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride here at borg.  Now we have our first look at toy company Super7’s new line of action figures from Reiner’s beloved mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap.  Overall the new action figures–part of Super7’s long ReAction line from vintage TV, movie, and music–look better than the previous, larger-sized set from Sideshow, which had large exposed joints.  These are inspired by the Kenner Star Wars classic design, retro 3.75-inch, low-detail sculpts with five points of articulation.  The bonus with these figures is you get a guitar as the accessory for each, and at last Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnel, Derek Smalls, and David St. Hubbins can hang out with Darth Vader on your vintage playset, or be the opening act at your Star Wars cantina playset.  You’ll need to provide your own miniature sandwiches, but otherwise these are ready to go.

Check out the packaging design and more details below.  All are available to order from Amazon here and Entertainment Earth here expected to ship this month.

The movie stars Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel, Michael McKean as David St. Hubbins, and Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls, all making their debut in the Super7 ReAction line, although we may see Guest in The Princess Bride line someday, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see McKean in a Laverne & Shirley line.  Super7 has taken on far more obscure properties before.  The band continued to perform long after the movie.

These are likely the only three characters Super7 will release from the band, but you never know–the ReAction line has seen bands re-released in other outfits.

What scenes will you re-enact?

Super7 is always experimenting with its cardback styles.  Sometimes they get actor image rights, sometimes they don’t.  These cards are spectacularly unspectacular, with a simple black front (hopefully this gets updated to something interesting).

Here are the figures individually:
