The Woman in the Yard–Blumhouse goes Gothic in next horror flick

Everybody loves a good Gothic ghost story.  Blumhouse is looking toward modern, Southern Gothic in its latest movie, director Jaume Collet-Serra’s The Woman in the Yard The vibe is all goosebumps when a family looks out the window at their rural property to find a woman in black staring, telling them “today’s the day.”  Everybody run for the exits!

From the trailer you can get all sorts of creepy ideas as to what is going on.  Maybe that’s some Skeleton Key, or The Others, the Doctor Who episode “Blink,” or Signs or The Happening.   Remember Emily Blunt in the farmhouse in Looper?  It’s probably not that.  But it certainly looks spooky.  It stars Danielle Deadwyler (Station Eleven) and Russell Hornsby (Grimm), Peyton Jackson and Estella Kahiha as the kids, and Okwui Okpokwasili (Agatha All Along) as the Woman in the Yard.  Blumhouse has been on a role this decade with good mainstream horror movies.  If you dare, check out the trailer for The Woman in the Yard:

From Universal Pictures look for The Woman in the Yard not in your yard but in theaters beginning March 28, 2025.
