What? You’ve never heard of the word “hygge”? It’s a Danish word describing a cozy contentment, and its become its own cultural phenomenon carried around the world. The roots of the word have been said to tie to both the word “hug” and “to think” in various Nordic languages. In every way it has a spiritual vibe, as if it’s the European cousin to the Japanese concept of kawaii. You’ll see what we mean if you compare the many popular books showcasing hygge imagery and kawaii characters. But it in the past decade hygge has taken on a life of its own by way of cute anthropomorphic animal characters and both teen and adult fans engage with them via coloring books. The latest is Vivi Tinta’s Fuzzy Hygge: Cute and Cozy Coloring Book (now available here at Amazon). Targeted at adults and teens, it features 45 coloring pages of cute animals as a way to relax or seek “me time” from a day of stress. It also includes a link to 40 more digital pages to print and color.
