In the States it’s always been known as A&E’s Pride and Prejudice and in the UK BBC’s Pride and Prejudice. The production partnering both the BBC and A&E Network is probably the best romance genre television series ever. The series made Colin Firth a household name and movie star eventually to earn his own Oscar, and together with co-star Jennifer Ehle (who opted to continue in stage work) the duo created the definitive adaptation of Jane Austen’s most popular work.

As genre fans, there’s no way we’re going to miss the opportunity to tell you about a new tie-in arriving–three decades after the six-episode mini-series first aired. Created by artist Charlotte Rickards it’s going to be a must for anyone who still re-watches the series every year. It’s BBC Pride and Prejudice: The Official Coloring Book, available now here at Amazon.

Many adult-targeted coloring books, including several we’ve looked at here at borg, get the idea right as they provide imagery evocative of some memorable genre book, game, or show. But we’ve rarely seen one that provides pristine likenesses of the actors as those actors portrayed their characters as in this new coloring book. From Firth to Ehle to the key supporting cast, artist Charlotte Rickards provides the line art that will allow fans of the show to make their own colorful, frameable wall art.

The book includes 45 illustrations, featuring key scenes (including your personal favorite), ready for your colored pencils, crayons, or markers. As the marketing information for the books wisely teases, you can roam the grounds at Pemberley, lounge in the drawing room with the Bennet sisters, or even decline a dance with Mr. Darcy. (What?!?).

It’s not just artwork to color, as Rickards has include designs evocative of the era, wallpaper-style imagery, and memorable Austen quotes from the movie–even a page of Bennet bonnets!

As coloring books targeted at adults are concerned, we’re giving this one our highest praise. For your favorite “Janeite,” order BBC Pride and Prejudice: The Official Coloring Book, available from Ten Speed Press now here at Amazon, or request it at your local comic book store.
