Crystal Lake — Friday the 13th prequel is coming for Halloween

The first thing that comes to mind with the first trailer for the new Peacock horror series Crystal Lake is probably going to be Bates Motel, the story of the mother of one of horror cinema’s infamous mothers.  And maybe also Ratched, a prequel of the unusual villain of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.  You’re going to be digging into D-movie status or worse to find any others worth make a series about.  Joining Vera Farmiga and Sarah Paulson for this strange neighborhood potluck is Linda Cardellini.  She plays Pamela Voorhees, the fabled mother of Jason from a dozen Friday the 13th movies.  The 1970s and camps make a good setting for a creepy late summer tale, Meatballs aside.

And c’mon!  Blue Öyster Cult’s Don’t Fear the Reaper better be the theme for the show–not just the trailer–because that’s spot on.  This looks promising.  A big reason to watch is it hails from Lodge 49, Warrior, and Tokyo Vice writer/producer Brad Kane (you’ll also find him as an actor in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Starship Troopers).  Take a look at the trailer for the new Peacock series Crystal Lake:

Forty-six years after we first met Jason in the dark woods at the lake, he’s still the subject of our Halloween season fears.  With William Catlett (Abigail, Black Lightning) as a cop investigating the strange goings-on, get reqady for Crystal Lake beginning October 15, 2026, on Peacock.
