First look — Ethan Hawke returns for Season 2 of The Lowdown

Ethan Hawke really hit his stride with some extra mettle and gravitas as a nitty gritty Tulsa “truthstorian” journalist in The Lowdown, one of the most engaging series of 2025, already back for its second season this month on Hulu and FX.  It was our pick for best drama, best actor (Hawke), and best supporting actor (Keith David) of the year here at borg.  Hawke’s progression toward this wisened but gruff character Lee Raybon seems to have begun somewhere around his turn on the remake of The Magnificent Seven–whatever it is it’s something you’ll want to see more of.  The Lowdown is the Oklahoma version of Tokyo Vice, another recent hard-hitting tale of an investigative journalist out to uncover the reality of corrupt politicians sucking money away from the rest of us.

Betty Gilpin and Tommy Lee Jones join the already stellar cast of Keith David, Kyle MacLachlan, Ryan Keira Armstrong, and Kaniehtiio Horn for Season 2, arriving in less than two weeks.  Check out this great first look at Season 2 of The Lowdown:
