Wizard World to stream virtual Comic Con event today with Doctor Who cast of yesterday and today

National convention organizer Wizard World will be hosting key cast members from across the 56+ years run of the BBC’s Doctor Who today as part of its Wizard World Virtual Experiences tour taking place through the summer.  From the 7th Doctor and his Companion, to a memorable sort-of Doctor, to the head of Torchwood, to members of the Paternoster Gang, and notables William Shakespeare and Winston Churchill and more–fans can see them all free on a live-streamed panel and/or check out individual opportunities for photographs and autographs for a fee.  It all happens today, June 17, 2020, online at noon Central Time.

In addition to his role as the wizard the Radagast the Brown in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit movies, among other roles Sylvester McCoy played the 7th Doctor on Doctor Who from 1987-1989, with Sophie Aldred as his companion Ace, and both reprised the characters in numerous audio plays since.  David Morrissey is known for several series now, but he also played the “Next Doctor,” Jackson Lake, opposite David Tennant’s 10th Doctor.

Probably our favorite recurring characters of all are the stylishly cool sleuths of the Victorian Paternoster Gang: the Silurian Madame Vastra, her human wife Jenny Flint, and the Sontaran Strax, played from 2010 to 2014 by Neve McIntosh, Catrin Stewart, and Dan Starkey–McIntosh and Stewart will be part of today’s panel (sorry, no Strax).

Tracy Ann Oberman played the head of Torchwood, Yvonne Hartman, in the David Tennant era in the episodes “Army of Ghosts” and “Doomsday.”  Dean Lennox Kelly (Cranford, Death in Paradise) played William Shakespeare also in the Tennant era, and Ian McNeice (Valkyrie, Horatio Hornblower) played Winston Churchill in the Smith era and Zeus in Big Finish’s audio plays with Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor.

Most recently, Samuel Oatley played a Stenza warrior who sought to become the leader of his people named T’zim Sha (pronounced Tim Shaw), opposite Jodie Whittaker, the current, 13th Doctor.  He’ll be joined by Ross Mullan, who played a Wraith and the Teller in seasons of Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor and Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor.

Ross Mullan played the Teller.

Fans can pose questions to the guests on Facebook in advance of the presentation, then tune in at noon for the live Q&A panel at YouTube Live, Facebook Live, or on Twitch.

Additional opportunities with the guest cast members include live video chats, recorded messages, and autographs, all available for purchase.
