Eisner and Harvey Award winner Frank Cho, one of the best cover artists and known for his fantastic renderings of women as well as his humor and storytelling (and borg′s pick for best comic book artist of 2021), brings his entire latest series into a collected, trade paperback release next month. The amped-up, Hunger Games-inspired series Fight Girls series features strong women competing to the last in the ultimate contest for survival. Fight Girls is a mix of Cho’s Skybourne and Jungle Girl, and it has what every comic book reader could want: Cho created the covers, and the interior art, and scripted the story for a brand new group of action heroines. Get ready for big action, gorgeous artwork, and plenty of fun. At 144 pages, this collected edition has plenty of room for all the covers and other Cho artwork. Take a look inside Frank Cho’s Fight Girls below.
Cho, first recognized for his humor and pin-up art in University² and Liberty Meadows, has gone on to create some of the finest mix of superheroes and classical artwork of any living artist. He’s provided some of the most beautiful Wonder Woman covers in years for DC Comics, followed by a series of Harley Quinn covers that has had collectors who weren’t even fans of the character buying up the issues. We raved about his cover art here ten years ago, but he’s created a lifetime of great work since then. Fans are always pleased with his next cover-to-cover work, from Savage Wolverine to Mighty Avengers, to Shanna the She-Devil, New Ultimates: Thor Reborn, and his X-Men Schism arc. This may be that next series.
Ten hard-as-nails women face off in an ancient contest of champions where the winner truly takes all: the title of “Queen of the Galaxy.” To win the challenge each contestant must survive the hazards of the planet’s harsh landscape, the ferocious predators on and below its surface, and their fellow contestants. This edition of the contest has a twist: one of the contestants is an infiltrator who has her eye on something bigger than the prize. Who is she and what does she really want?
