It was originally titled Blazing Samurai. Directors Rob Minkoff and Mark Koetsier are bringing Mel Brooks’ classic Western comedy into a goofy fun animated film featuring–that’s right–a samurai. Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank (why not stick with Blazing Samurai?!?) is heading to theaters this summer, featuring a slate of voice actors including Samuel L. Jackson, George Takei, Ricky Gervais, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Michael Cera, and Mel Brooks. A hard-on-his-luck hound named Hank (Cera) finds himself in a town full of cats who need a hero to defend them from a ruthless villain (Gervais) plotting to wipe their village off the map. Sounds like Seven Samurai and its remake The Magnificent Seven, right?
