SDCC 2023–Disney releases big Flerken trailer for The Marvels

As the characters in this week’s episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion series didn’t really do anything, it’s nice to see Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury back in the realm where MCU audiences last saw him at his best, partnering with Brie Larson in Captain Marvel.  For the year’s annual biggest reveal of new trailers and pop culture stuff, San Diego Comic-Con weekend, Disney / Marvel released the next trailer for this fall’s MCU movie The Marvels.  The trailer shows how the movie is bringing together the intergalactic Captain Marvel with her friend and co-pilot’s daughter Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris in the series WandaVision, joining Iman Vellani’s young superheroine from the series Ms. Marvel.

A big thing missing from Marvel movies since before Infinity War is hopefully returning: a movie not focused on the dreary but fun–fun with playing with the MCU comics on the big screen.  Plus Goose the Flerken cat is back, and what looks like a whole lovable legion of Flerkittens.

Check out this fun trailer for The Marvels:

Marvel movies aren’t known for great villains.  The Big Bad of this comics page on the screen is Dar-Benn, a Kree alien angry with the Captain, played by Doctor Who and Sherlock’s Zawe Ashton.

We won’t make a big deal out of the movie using the Captain Marvel comic book’s tweaked rip-off of The Six Million Dollar Man‘s classic Better. Stronger. Faster. tagline.  But how about the Statue of Liberty being freshly polished down to her brass look?  That must have taken plenty of elbow grease.

The Marvels arrives in theaters November 10, 2023.
