Rey from Star Wars, Talos in The Marvel movies, and Flynn’s son from Tron: Legacy come together in the theater this fall in the new psychological thriller, The Marsh King’s Daughter.  No, sadly it’s not science fiction or fantasy, but Daisy Ridley takes center stage as a woman who must confront her past where she was kidnapped by her father, played by Ben Mendelsohn.  When her father breaks out of jail, she takes the hunt to him, thinking he’s coming after her daughters.  Garrett Hedlund plays her husband.

Based on a book by Karen Dionne, it’s one of those movies that looks like it has an unreliable narrator a la Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train.  Check out this trailer for The Marsh King’s Daughter:

The movie co-stars Caren Pistorius, Brooklynn Prince, and Gil Birmingham, co-star of Hell or High Water.  It’s directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Limitless).
