Zorak is back.

The big comic book hit, the big superhero comeback, the big sci-fi comic series, is definitely Space Ghost.  But as the fourth issue arrives we all have what we’ve been waiting for–the return of Zorak!  Take a look below at a preview of Issue #4 courtesy of Dynamite.  Writer David Pepose and artist Jonathan Lau absolutely nailed the nostalgia, while updating the characters in a way that should become a continuing series that doesn’t just wind down at 12 issues.  In fact Dynamite announced the first six issues will be collected and available later this year in both a paperback and hardcover edition, featuring covers by Francesco Mattina and Michael Cho.   Space Ghost Volume 1: With Only Ghosts to Comfort Us is available for pre-order now here at Amazon.

The power of the new series can be found in Jonathan Lau’s strong pencils and inks.  His Space Ghost is all passion, power, and grit, the kind of energy that comic book fans woke up to in decades past with Bill Sienkiewicz, Michael Turner, Mauro Cascioli, and Frank Miller’s different takes on Batman.

This Space Ghost, as seen inside the book and via covers by artists Michael Cho, Bjorn Barends, Jae Lee and June Chung, Francesco Mattina, and Anthony Marques is a superhero that could stand with your favorite renderings of Superman, Batman, and the legacy Captain Marvel.  I’ve loved Lau’s recognizable style going back to his work on The Bionic Man and Miss Fury.  So it’s exciting seeing what he’s continuing to do with this series.
