Thunderbolts*–Marvel misfit superhero team gets its first trailer

“There are bad guys, and there are worse guys.”

Thankfully the next glue-piece from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a movie.  Thunderbolts* appears to be a direct sequel to Black Widow, minus the lead (who died in Avengers: Endgame).  That means the return of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian (and her dad), and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.  The movie also ties in two characters from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes and Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent.  As a bonus there’s Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, the villain from Ant-Man and The Wasp.  If you’re going to have another connector Marvel bit from Disney–without a major comic book character–it has to be better as a two-hour movie than another six- or ten-hour slog.

“Be careful who you assemble” makes sense here.  (Please be better than the Suicide Squad, which had a similar plot and marketing).  But as motley characters go, this could be a fun team-up.

Check out this first trailer (a teaser) for Thunderbolts*.  (Why the asterisk?  Who knows).

That’s Lewis Pullman, who has been everywhere lately, making the first appearance as Marvel Comics character Sentry.

You have a wait for this one.  Thunderbolts* arrives in theaters May 2, 2025.
