Five seasons isn’t anything to sneeze at, and we’ve discussed the very best genre series of all time cracking that five-season threshold before here at borg. Star Trek: Lower Decks has done what Paramount was afraid to do (or afraid to spend money on) taking all those great ideas that would best be brought to the live screen in the Trek universe via practical effects and elaborate sets and putting them to life, including some of the best alien races in every episode as regular characters (we’re looking at you, Dr. T’Ana). In animation you can do anything, and for the same price as an ordinary story. What could be better? This series in live action? But it looks like the end begins this week.

For New York Comic Con 2024 Paramount unveiled new trailers and scenes for the final season of Lower Decks and Season 3 of Strange New Worlds. Check them out below. Plus, a new line of obscure Trek figures!
First, here is a big scene from the coming season of Strange New Worlds:
Look out, Gorn, and Welcome to Jumanji–that movie series’ actor Rhys Darby will be appearing this season on Strange New Worlds.
And here is the latest trailer for the final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks coming this week:
And Garrett Wang is back as Ensign Harry Kim! Pip pip, hooray! (that’s two pips).
Along with star Tawny Newsome (who is expected in her own live-action Trek soon) expect the return of Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, Eugene Cordero, Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O’Connell, Fred Tatasciore, and Gillian Vigman. Look for the end of Star Trek’s best, the final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks coming to Paramount+ October 24, 2024. Strange New Worlds returns in 2025.
The toy company Nacelle is putting out some relatively obscure new action figures from across Star Trek. The first wave features 1:12 scale figures similar to Star Wars’ Black Series and include:
- Captain Jellico from Star Trek: The Next Generation “Chain of Command”
- Peter Preston from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
- Valkris from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
- Captain Garrett from Star Trek: The Next Generation “Yesterday’s Enterprise”
- Tuvix from Star Trek: Voyager “Tuvix”
- Mirror Archer from Star Trek: Enterprise “In A Mirror, Darkly”
- Weyoun from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
- Captain Sulu from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Check out a first look at them:

It was also announced at NYCC that Tatiana Maslany would join the cast of Starfleet Academy (already committed to two seasons) along with Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti and Star Trek: Discovery’s Tig Notaro, Oded Fehr, and Mary Wiseman. And finally, Star Trek: Section 31 has a release date: January 24, 2025.
