While DC Entertainment continues to remake its top superhero stories (see, for example, yesterday’s trailer for the umpteenth live-action Superman in 80 years), Marvel Studios continues to look past its key properties into the more obscure comic book pages. Its latest project isn’t going so far back into the archives for the likes of Kraven the Hunter or Morbius. Closer to Echo and Ms. Marvel, Ironheart is a character invented in 2016, and like those series, it also follows Marvel’s refusal to have a woman headline a Marvel movie. Yes, Ironheart is another short streaming series, only six episodes to tell this story.

Four-and-a-half years since it was announced by Kevin Feige it will come to Disney+. Starring 28-year-old Dominique Thorne as the “genius teenage inventor” who makes her own Iron Man-inspired suit of armor, the vibe looks closer to Netflix’s run of superhero TV shows. But Tony Stark was integral to the Ironheart of the comic book series–will Disney bring Robert Downey, Jr.’s character into this TV series? Check out this trailer for Ironheart:
The series includes Anthony Ramos (Godzilla franchise), Community’s Jim Rash, Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Paul Calderon (Bosch). Ironheart begins June 24, 2025, on Disney+.
