First look–Brosnan and Mirren reunite in Thursday Murder Club movie

For every exciting new movie trailer are the few that don’t dazzle so much. Take the new trailer for The Thursday Murder Club. Based on the book, it looks like a trope that has been done and redone in TV episode form practically every week of every year on BritBox, Acorn, PBS, and the BBC: A mystery book club gets to work a real crime. The strangest feature is the timing. The movie, coming directly to Netflix this summer, stars MobLand lead duo Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. Quite simply it’s going to be difficult watching those two go the way of the cozy mystery so soon after the bloodbath crime and violence of MobLand. Of all the content available for Netflix to adapt, this seems better suited for a TV series. But the movie co-stars Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie, with Richard E. Grant, Jonathan Pryce, and David Tennant, and with a cast like that, how could we pass it up?
