For seven seasons of Bosch, featuring Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch stories with Titus Welliver in the title role, plus two of the three seasons of the follow-up series Bosch: Legacy, TV viewers were treated to some of the best stories ever on episodic TV featuring L.A’s Finest. The series had a spark and crisp brand of storytelling that other Connelly properties, namely The Lincoln Lawyer (movie or series) didn’t harness as well.
This year’s clunky series finale for Bosch: Legacy was also a backdoor pilot for another spin-off, starring Maggie Q as Renée Ballard. Suddenly in the last episode a case from the distant past surfaced for Bosch and the two shared the detective work. Ballard comes to Prime Video next month.
Most promising are appearances by Magnum PI’s Amy Hill as Ballard’s grandmother and John Carroll Lynch (Zodiac, The Founder, Ted 2, The Drew Carey Show) as a cop on her cold case team. Here’s the trailer:
And here is the teaser in case you missed it:
Fans of Bosch will have their eyes peeled for appearances by old friends Mimi Rogers as newly appointed D.A. Honey Chandler, Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch, Stephen A. Chang as Mo Bassi, and Denise G. Sanchez as Reina Vasquez, or the guys who’ve been through it all: Crate (Gregory Scott Cummins) and Barrel (Troy Evans).
Look for the entire first season of Ballard coming July 9, 2025, on Prime Video.
