The Woman in Cabin 10 — The next mystery movie with a familiar trope

The trope is most memorable to generations from Alfred Hitchock’s The Lady Vanishes, based on the novel The Wheel Spins by Ethel Lina White.  But cautionary tales–or in the modern, urban legends–of the perils of women traveling alone have been around forever.  The latest update to the story is coming to Netflix in the form of The Woman in Cabin 10 It has the benefit of some of England’s top actresses, notably Keira Knightley, Kaya Scodelario, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and some guys, too, namely David Morrissey, David Ajala, Guy Pearce, Christopher Rygh, Art Malik, and Danile Ings.  Evoking an Agatha Christie vibe is the large cast on a sea vessel, especially as the trailer looks much like that for Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile.  Sure, it’s a different decade (and century), but it still looks so much alike.

Based on a novel, the movie comes from director Simon Stone, known for the impressive drama The Dig (reviewed here), with music by Benjamin Wallfisch (Shazam!, Alien: Romulus, V for Vendetta).
