New trailers for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

From video games to manga and children’s books to the big-screen, Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming back to theaters this year for a sequel.  Blumhouse (who brought us wins with M3GAN, The Black Phone, and the Halloween and Happy Death Day films) has released its next trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, a darker journey than the first movie for its father and daughter leads, returning from the 2023 theatrical introduction to the franchise.  That Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese-inspired story wasn’t all that scary compared to other Blumhouse films, but this sequel may just meet the promise of the marketing for the first, which was boasted as “blood-chilling” and “terrifying horror.”  Troubled security guard Mike (The Hunger Games’ Josh Hutcherson) returns with Elizabeth Lail (Mack & Rita, Robot Chicken) as Vanessa, the local cop with more information than first believed, with Piper Rubio as Mike’s sister Abby.

Street cred for the first film came from the welcome personage of Matthew Lillard (Scooby Doo, Scream, The Bridge, Bosch).  He’s expected back for this sequel, too, as are the animatronics by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.  But new to the franchise are actors Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park), Mckenna Grace (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Teo Briones (Chucky, Ratched), and Skeet Ulrich (Scream, Riverdale).
