One of the funnier bits from this summer’s first swing at DC Comics at the movies, James Gunn’s Superman, was the ending, which featured a brief appearance by Milly Alcock as the new Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. This week DC released the first trailer for next summer’s movie Supergirl, and Krypto–who we learned in the Gunn-verse is actually Supergirl’s dog–is front and center. See if You agree–the entire two-minute trailer has much in common with Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and the music and style resembles both Marvel’s Captain Marvel and Black Widow movies. With Blondie as the background music, this Supergirl will be all about what is cool.

The movie is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. Other actors in the cast include Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa–but not as Aquaman. Nope, he’s slated to play DC Comic’s alien mercenary Lobo.
Check out this first teaser trailer for DC’s second movie in Gunn and Warner Brothers’ Gods and Monsters sequence, Supergirl:
Look for Supergirl in theaters June 26, 2026.
