Everything about the first trailer for the new Apple TV series Lucky feels like a deja vu. Flip Samara Weaving for Anya Taylor-Joy and it all looks very close to last year’s action flick Eenie Meanie (review here) and this year’s rough heroine flick Stone Cold Fox (reviewed here). The former starred Weaving as a reformed getaway driver caught between her boyfriend and a local mob boss and the latter followed a young crimeworld survivor manipulated by an over-bearing local crime boss. In Lucky Anya Taylor-Joy plays title heroine Lucky Armstrong, a reformed thief, brought back in for a final job. It co-stars Timothy Olyphant, Annette Bening, William Fichtner, Clifton Collins, Jr., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Melissa Falcone.

Here’s the trailer for the Apple TV limited series Lucky:
Anya Taylor-Joy has found her way as both movie star and TV star–her limited series The Queen’s Gambit (reviewed here) stands as one of the best series released in the streaming era. Look for Lucky coming to Apple TV beginning July 15, 2026.
