That high-pitched screech you hear during the official trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero is the famous kaiju monstrosity from six decades of Godzilla movies, King Ghidorah.  But you won’t get to actually see the new version of the King just yet.  The new trailer is here, touting the movie being the first-ever Japanese production filmed in IMAX.  Godzilla is the longest running continuous film franchise in the world, going back to the original movie Godzilla, which premiered in 1954.  You haven’t really watched a Godzilla movie until you’ve seen the kaiju–giant monsters–produced with that unique style only Japanese filmmakers have captured.  The biggest of them all arrived with 2023’s Godzilla Minus One (reviewed here at borg), the first of the franchise to score an Academy Award (for visual effects).

Most of the cast is returning for this sequel, including Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi, Minami Hamabe as Noriko, Hidetaka Yoshioka as Kenji Noda, Kuranosuke Sasaki as Seiji Akitsu, Miou Tanaka as Tatsuo Hotta, Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ōta, and Yuki Yamada as Shirō Mizushima. New actors include Min Tanaka and Masami Nagasawa.

It’s all coming in time for Thanksgiving from the same studio–Toho Co. Ltd.–and Takashi Yamazaki is again the writer, director, and creator of special effects.  The teaser and trailer follows another decades-old trend in classic creature features, bringing Godzilla to America.  Yep, Godzilla is going to wreak havoc on the U.S.A.

Look for Godzilla Minus Zero in theaters November 6, 2026.
