After the wonderful Asteroid City (reviewed here at borg), Wes Anderson isn’t resting on his laurels. As with the perfect animated (and perfectly animated) The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Anderson is adapting another Roald Dahl story. It’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and it stars some of genredom’s heavy hitters: Benedict Cumberbatch, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Rupert Friend, and more. The best bit is it will be streaming on Netflix next week. And there’s more: It’s one of four short films by Anderson adapting Dahl short stories that are arriving this weekend on Netflix. The Swan arrives September 28, The Ratcatcher arrives September 29, and Poison arrives September 30.
Take a look at that cinema magic we only get from Wes Anderson in this trailer for The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar:
It’s hardly a wait at all. Find The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar premiering on Netflix September 27, 2023, with another new short film each night this coming weekend.
