Her Private Hell — Sophie Thatcher stars in next future noir flick

As a borg in both the Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett (reviewed here) and the lead role of the big-screen movie Companion (reviewed here), Sophie Thatcher is an actor to keep an eye on.  Her next lead role finds her in a strange, futuristic, sci-fi horror mash-up.  Her Private Hell comes from writer-director Nicolas Winding Refn, known to push the fringe of cinema.  Watch the first trailer for the movie below and you’re likely to walk away having no idea what it could possibly be about.  Marketing tells us it’s “A hypnotic, unhinged thriller with an original story promising plenty of glamour, sex, and violence.”  That’s not a great start.  This sounds a little better: “When a mysterious mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis, a deadly and elusive entity is unleashed.  During this an American G.I. embarks on a harrowing odyssey to rescue his daughter from Hell.  He crosses paths with a troubled young woman who is also searching for her father.”

The production design ticks several cool boxes.  Supernatural, fantasy, futurism, horror.  Check out this very stylish look at the coming movie Her Private Hell:

Dougray Scott co-stars with Charles Melton and Kristine Froseth.  Look for Her Private Hell in theaters from NEON Films coming July 24, 2026.
