It may seem strange, but adult coloring books have been growing in popularity for the last 15 years. Every major genre and franchise jumped aboard the trend, but we haven’t seen an adult Star Trek coloring book for a decade now. The latest is just out from Ten Speed Press, and it’s a big update in quality and images from anything we’ve seen before. Star Trek: The Official Coloring Book, now available here at Amazon, covers the entire 60 years of Star Trek. The images are of crew members, movie posters, and scenes from the movies and television series that aren’t merely impressions, but great line drawings that look like the ships and the actors behind each character.

When you think of the Star Trek franchise, what iconic images come to mind? The starship Enterprise soaring above a planet? Movie posters, including posters from all fourteen movies? Deep Space Nine and the Defiant? All of the main crew members from of each series from the original series through Strange New Worlds and all three animated series? Spotlight images of your favorite characters, like Mr. Spock and Lieutenant Ortegas? You’ll find all those and more in 40 illustrations from illustrator Ani Martin.

It will be fun to test your Star Trek knowledge. Who do you expect to see? Do you recognize all the characters and their ships? The book dashes across time with a good overview of the franchise in 40 images with blank reverse pages, all on thick, bleed-resistant paper that is perforated so pages can be removed and framed or stuck on a wall.

Star Trek: The Official Coloring Book has pulled together artwork that resembles the actors and key scenes from the series, but also does so in a visually interesting manner and conforms to the whole point of these books: to give fans a chance to color their favorite scenes (in or outside the lines). The book has plenty for Star Trek fans–key characters and images, aliens, and environments, all in nicely framed illustrations.

It’s a fun, nostalgic romp for sci-fi fans of all ages. For your favorite Trekker or Trekkie, order Star Trek: The Official Coloring Book now here from Amazon, or from your local comic book store.
