Ebenezer — Johnny Depp is Scrooge this holiday season

Every generation sees another major production of Charles Dickens’ holiday ghost story A Christmas Carol.  This holiday season Johnny Depp immerses himself in the Victorian world, almost unrecognizable as Ebenezer Scrooge in Paramount Pictures’ Ebenezer Although the trailer features elements that would make you think it’s Depp’s latest movie with Tim Burton, it’s actually from horror director Ti West (Wayward Pines, The Exorcist, Scream: The Series).  Depp joins the prestigious ranks of Scrooge actors of Christmas Past, including Alastair Sim, Albert Finney, Michael Caine, Bill Murray, Patrick Stewart, and Christopher Plummer.

The new slate of British actors in familiar supporting roles includes Ian McKellen as Robert Marley, Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Daisy Ridley as Mrs. Cratchit, Daisy Jones and the Six star Sam Claflin as nephew Fred, and Willow and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies star Ellie Bamber as old flame Belle.

This one looks like it could be the next holiday movie staple.  Here’s a fun preview with one of the best actors of his generation, Johnny Depp in Ebenezer:

Look for Ebenezer opening in theaters in time for the holidays, November 13, 2026.
