Jeff Bridges’ awesomeness highlighted in two new movie trailers

Jeff Bridges in Seventh Son

How can you get any cooler than Jeff Bridges’ hacker/video game mogul character of Flynn in Tron?  As The Dude in The Big Lebowski?  Two new trailers will no doubt elevate even diehard Jeff Bridges fans’ views of this singularly awesome genre actor.

We already previewed the first trailer for next week’s release R.I.P.D. here at borg.com R.I.P.D. adapts the Dark Horse Comics paranormal cops series and stars Ryan Reynolds as Nick Walker and Bridges as Roy Pulsipher, a gun-toting badass that makes Bridges’ Rooster Cogburn from the True Grit remake look like a wimp.  This new trailer for R.I.P.D. relies heavily in its attraction on the coolness that is Mr. Bridges.  Add to it that mammoth revolver and this movie looks like a guaranteed summer blast.

Just check out Bridges in this cool new trailer for R.I.P.D.:

Bridges’ Roy Pulsipher makes us want to start writing a Western buddy movie starring Bridges and Sam Elliott.  Add in “the most interesting man in the world” from the Dos Equis beer ads and we would have a guaranteed winner with the coolest looking bearded dudes ever together on-screen.

Last night we also saw the release of the first trailer for Seventh Son, which will no doubt confuse fans of Orson Scott Card’s first book in The Tales of Alvin Maker series, titled Seventh Son.  Nope, this is an adaptation of the far more recent fantasy books by Joseph Delaney–The Wardstone Chronicles.  Regardless, this preview is one of the most jaw-dropping fantasy movie previews we’ve ever encountered.

Jeff Bridges slides into the awe-inspiring realm of the likes of Sean Connery as this new sword wielding epic fantasy looking figure.  We really, really hope it is as good as it first appears, with settings that could appear in Middle Earth, and creatures out of a classic Ray Harryhausen film–updated, of course, with some beautiful modern CGI effects.  And this beautiful witch may be the role that Julianne Moore was made to play.  With an apparent plot that has the feel of the Nick Cage film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, this movie looks like a winner we can’t wait to see.

Eighteenth century swords and sorcery?  Flying dragons?  Win.

And Jeff Bridges’ Van Dyke beard?  Have we found the guy to play the Neal Adams, Mike Grell, Alex Ross’s Kingdom Come, and Mauro Cascioli’s version of Green Arrow all rolled up into one?

R.I.P.D. opens in theaters July 16, 2013, and Seventh Son is scheduled for release on January 17, 2014.
