The first trailer to the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire nearly stops you in your tracks with the title–something out of an apocalyptic sci-fi franchise. Ghostbusters was born of the supernatural, an idea from Dan Aykroyd’s family’s odd but real history with actual ghost hunting. And although the stakes rose to the level of a full-scale apocalypse, the means was always via ghosts–ghosts of all shapes and sizes. This first trailer (below) presents a bit of a stretch to that concept, looking more like the 2004 movie The Day After Tomorrow than Ghostbusters. But where are all those ghosts fans know from four live-action movies and the animated shows?
Newcomers from the last movie Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard return with cast members from the original two films: Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. New cast members include Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt.
