Monk returns–Quirky ace detective is returning for one more case

Honeymoon in Vegas, Addams Family Values, I.Q., The X-Files, Gattaca, A Civil Action–So many roles, but you probably first really noticed Tony Shalhoub in Men in Black, Wings, and Galaxy Quest.  He seemed to be everywhere, but it was 124 episodes of the USA series Monk that made him an icon and three-time lead actor Emmy winner.  His character Adrian Monk is a stand-out in the long string of odd and quirky detectives that includes predecessors Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Nero Wolfe, Inspector Clouseau, Kojak, Columbo, and Sister Steve in Father Dowling Mysteries, and would continue afterward with Shawn Spencer on Psych, Sonya Cross in The Bridge, and Jasper Tempest in Professor T.

We haven’t seen him for 14 years, but next month Monk is back.   Unfortunately it’s not a full series, but like Psych, Monk’s getting his own movie, streaming on Peacock.  Shalhoub reunites with original cast members Ted Levine (The Bridge, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Stottlemeyer, Traylor Howard (Boston Common) as Natalie, Jason Gray-Stanford (Percy Jackson and The Olympians) as the funniest sidekick in all of crime TV, Randy Disher, and Hector Elizondo (The Rockford Files, Kojak, Columbo) as Monk’s therapist.

We can’t wait.  Look for Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie streaming December 8, 2023, on Peacock.
