Planet Comicon Kansas City celebrates 25 years this weekend

Planet Comicon Kansas City has been one of the Midwest’s biggest comic book and pop culture conventions and that was no less so in 2014 when it became the largest attended event in the history of the Kansas City Convention Center.  And it’s only gotten bigger.  This year the event is celebrating 25 years since its first show in 1999.  Leading things off is Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Lord of the Rings star John Rhys-Davies, Star Trek Beyond, Kingsman, and Rebel Moon star Sofia Boutella, and from the Marvel movie and TV universe, Marvel Avenger and A Knight’s Tale star Paul Bettany and The Punisher himself, Jon Bernthal.  From classic John Carpenter movies, The Fog and Escape from New York (and Deep Space Nine) actress Adrienne Barbeau and They Live and The Thing (and Community) actor Keith David will be in attendance.  From the Star Wars franchise the Emperor himself, Ian McDiarmid is scheduled to attend.  Look for Tron: Legacy and Tulsa King star Garrett Hedlund and several stars from the Scream franchise including Matthew Lillard, Melissa Barrera, and Skeet Ulrich.  From TV’s Mythbusters, Adam Savage is scheduled to attend, plus Hellboy actor Ron Perlman.  And fans can meet several actors from classic television, including Henry Winkler, Don Most, and Anson Williams from Happy Days and Sid Krofft and cast members from Land of the Lost.  It all takes place this weekend beginning Thursday at Kansas City’s convention center at Bartle Hall, March 8-10, 2024.

Of course some of the biggest names and most popular comics creators are also in the line-up for this year’s show, most making return appearances, including comic book writers and artists Chris Claremont, Kevin Eastman, Mark Waid, Freddie Williams II, Phil Hester, Ant Lucia, and Bryan Fyffe, authors Elizabeth C. Bunce, Ande Parks, Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore, and publisher Sandy King and creators from her Storm King Comics.

There’s something for every fandom and genre, fanboy and fangirl at this year’s show.

Check the Planet Comicon Kansas City website here for info about even more guests slated to attend, including several voice actors, cosplayers, and lots more.  Follow the website for late additions and cancellations.  Note: Not all guests will be attending the event each day of the show, so check the website for details.

It’s finally here: Planet Comicon Kansas City is March 8, 9, and 10, 2024, in downtown Kansas City at the Kansas City Convention Center.  Tickets are still available for each day, including photo opportunities and autographs.
