Phase IV of the Marvel Cinematic Universe took center stage with some big reveals at a Disney investor event this week. The biggest news is a preview of Loki, which takes fan-favorite actor Tom Hiddleston’s beloved villain into more strange places, continuing the comic villainy that keeps fans coming back for more. Along with Loki, Disney rolled out previews of the new Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the What if…? animated series, the casting of the lead for Ms. Marvel, and details on new series from Secret Wars to Ant-Man 3 and She-Hulk. Plus new target release dates? Check those out and the trailers below.
In addition to the previously discussed movies Black Widow arriving in theaters May 7, 2021, Eternals coming November 5, 2021, Tatiana Maslany cast as the lead in the She-Hulk series (and it’s a comedy!), an original Moon Knight and Ironheart series in the works, and WandaVision coming to Disney+ January 15, 2021, superhero fans have plenty to look forward to. Sam Raimi directs Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, now coming to theaters March 25, 2022. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives July 9, 2021. Nia DaCosta will be directing Captain Marvel 2, expected July 8, 2022. Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee) will play Hawkeye Kate Bishop in a Hawkeye series coming to Disney+ in late 2022. Secret Invasion will be a crossover event series, featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. Don Cheadle will return as War Machine in a series called Armor Wars for Disney+.
And more projects in the works. I Am Groot will be a series of short films. Christian Bale will play the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder, slated for theaters May 6, 2022. Ant-Man 3 has a title: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will introduce Kang the Conqueror, and arrives in theaters in 2022. Black Panther 2 is expected in theaters May 6, 2022. The weirdest? The Guardians of the Galaxy will get a holiday special on Disney+ ahead of the 2023 film The Guardians of the Galaxy 3, with James Gunn directing. And a Fantastic Four film is in the works–this will be the third cinema reboot of the characters. It will be directed by Jon Watts.
